RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- A sophomore at McQueen High School has taken volunteerism to the next level and for that, she is May's News 4 Class Act Award winner.

Yesterday, News4 surprised Kylee Lush with the award. At the beginning of the school year, Lush started a club dedicated to service projects called "Lancers got Love." She recruited about 50 students to participate in the group that raised money selling t-shirts and bracelets.

They used the money to buy and make dinner for the homeless shelter here in Reno. Lush has an additional 20 hours of community service this year and is also helping to raise money for her church group that will be going to Africa to do humanitarian work. She does all this while balancing a busy highschooler's schedule.

"I was always helping just in church...thought about an idea this summer of how to get high school involved and it fit into my schedule as well," Lush said.

If someone you know is a class act, send an email or letter to News 4.
