FALLON, Nev. (Mynews4.com & KRNV) - A high speed chase that started near Hawthorne ends in Fallon. Nevada Highway Patrol is still searching for a suspect on the loose who escaped on foot.
Troopers say the chase started at 6:50 p.m. about 18 miles north of Hawthorne. A trooper spotted a red Ford Mustang passing another driver on a stretch of road with a double yellow line. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle when it took off at a high rate of speed.
Walker River Tribal Police joined in the chase and used spike strips to try and stop the vehicle. The attempt failed, and the driver continued at speeds above 100 miles per hour toward Fallon.
As the vehicle neared Fallon, Churchill County Sheriff's along with Fallon Police Department joined the chase. A second spike strip was used and the driver lost control of the vehicle near Colorado Lane and Taylor.
A 30-year-old female passenger remained in the car, and was arrested. According to troopers the 24-year-old male suspect took off and foot and they are still searching for the man.
