Ice rescue training held for Tahoe Douglas Firefighters, Heavenly Ski Patrol

STATELINE, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Heavenly Ski Patrol and Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District are partnering because of the remote location of mountain reservoirs away from district resources.

The resort has had close call incidents in the past and has a potential for a significant ice rescue situation in the future.

Instructor Lucas stated that the course teaches the type and development of ice and how to properly assess the situation. Instruction on the gear and equipment including the specialized dry suit that both insulates and provides buoyancy.
