RENO, Nev. (AP) — A former Vagos motorcycle gang leader turned federal informant has taken the witness stand at a murder trial in Reno for a fellow gang member accused of killing a rival Hells Angel during a 2011 shootout at a Nevada casino.

Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer forbade media from photographing Jimmy Evanson, the ex-president of the Vagos Southern California Riverside chapter.

He earlier testified confidentially before the grand jury that indicted Ernesto Gonzalez, former president of the Vagos chapter in Nicaragua.

Gonzalez is accused of fatally shooting Hells Angels San Jose President Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew during the melee at a Sparks casino.

Evanson helped prosecutors identify gang members on casino surveillance tape during Thursday's testimony.
