Inmate escapes from Nevada Dept. of Corrections; considered armed, dangerous

CARSON CITY, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- According to a press release from the Nevada Department of Corrections, Inmate James McDowell escaped from the Stewart Conservation Camp in Carson City late Tuesday night.

News 4 spoke with Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, who said McDowell is considered to be armed and dangerous. He has a warrant in another state, Texas.

Inmate McDowell is a 36-year-old male committed from Washoe County serving 15 to 48 months for Grand Larceny of Motor Vehicle.

McDowell has been incarcerated with the NDOC since May 9, 2014. Local law enforcement authorities were notified.

They need to question the Director of Corrections as to why an inmate with an active warrant was classified to a minimum security camp!! This goes against their own regulations!!
