RENO, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com)-- Former Nevada Wolf Pack quarterback Colin Kaepernick is now 2-0 as a starter for the San Francisco 49ers.

Some Pack fans in Reno say they couldn't be more proud.

"I'll always be a Kaepernick fan because he came from Reno and he's just a big hero in this town," Reno resident Josh Zeme says.

News 4 watched the game with some fans Sunday.

"My grandpa was a Niners fan, my dad's a Niners fan, now I'm a Niners fan," Reno resident Rory O'Brien says.

They claim to come by it naturally.

"I've always been a Niners fan," Zeme says.

And naturally they're Colin Kaepernick fans.

"It just so happens Kaepernick went to Nevada, so did my dad and so did my grandpa so it's a pretty big deal," O'Brien says.

Niner fans descended on Bully's Sports Bar in northwest Reno to watch the former Pack star take it to the New Orleans Saints.

"This is fun being around all of the fans. It's like being at the game away from the game," Zeme says.

Kap took over the game scoring a touchdown and passing for 231 yards.

But he didn't beat the Saints alone defense chalked up 5 sacks on the day and two interceptions for touchdowns.

After the game Kap had nothing, but positive things to say about his team and his predecessor Alex Smith.

"He's been amazing I mean even on the sidelines still he's double checking with me 'did I see this, did I see that,' making sure I know what the defense is doing so I can go out and perform," Kaepernick told a Fox Sports reporter.

Some nice words from Kap, but 49ers fans sound like they're ready for a little bit more of a permanent change.

"I just feel he's the quarterback of the future. Win or lose I'm still going to be sticking by him," Niner fan Leah Goss says.

Goss has been backing the 49ers since the 80's.

"Alex Smith he's a good leader too, but you know young gun Colin is just going to take over he's the future," O'Brien says.

Kap has put himself at the top of every conversation and it's probably going to stay that way, because the young gun isn't going anywhere.
