RENO, Nev. (Mynews4.com & KRNV) -- A 20-year veteran of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office announced his candidacy for Sheriff on Tuesday.

Undersheriff Tim Kuzanek held at a news conference at The Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. Kuzanek says there are a number of things that qualify him for the office. "This is my 21st year at the office. I've worked very hard, I've worked in every bureau. I've worked almost every job at the office, so I've garnered a tremendous amount of experience. I've learned over the years how to apply that experience, and I know I can do to further reduce crime going forward."

Among those who endorse Kuzanek's bid are the mayors of Sparks and Reno, two former Washoe County Sheriffs, District Attorney Dick Gammick, and current Washoe County Sheriff Mike Haley.
