CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Tina Leiss has been promoted to executive director of the Nevada Public Employees' Retirement System.

The Nevada Appeal reports Leiss was chosen Wednesday by the system's board of directors to succeed Dana Bilyeu, who is retiring in September.

Leiss has served as operations officer for the retirement system since 2004. Before that she was a senior deputy attorney general representing PERS.

Board members commended the job she's done as operations officer and said she will assure continuity at the agency in her new role.

Leiss takes over as director Sept. 9. Her contract is still to be negotiated but her compensation, as set in statute, will be $140,000 to $150,000 a year.

Bilyeu is leaving to become administrator of the National Association of State Retirement Administrators.
