LOCKWOOD, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The weekend after Thanksgiving is a popular time to start decorating for the holidays, but one local man began working on his home back in October.
Chris Arnold's love for decorating at Christmas started about 20 years ago.
“My daughter asked 'can we put up some lights?' so we put up a couple strands and it's grown from there,” Arnold said.
That's an understatement. Arnold's home in Lockwood is breaking new ground in Christmas cheer.
“I've never seen a mobile home decorated with 33,000 lights synchronized to music.
That's just the lights.
“I have right close to a mile of extension cords,” Arnold said. “I've gone through almost 5,000 zip ties this year.”
Arnold works on the show year-round and has been putting up lights since the weekend after Halloween. This is the second year he's set the lights to music.
”I saw it up on Youtube a few years ago,” he said. “We just started doing it and it's growing every year and it's going to grow more next year.”
Tere's one thing that won't change.
“My mega tree on the roof,” Arnold said. “It's over 5,000 lights on it alone and it's my favorite.”
Arnold says the sights and sounds aren't just for his enjoyment.
”This is my gift to the community,” he said.
After all the best gifts are ones money can't buy.
“When the kids come out and they're amazed by it, well they get the gift of joy,” he said.
Arnold says it's a gift you won't want to return.
”Come out, enjoy, you'll love it,” Arnold said. “If you don't we'll give you a money back guarantee.”
He was just kidding; the show is free.
If you'd like to see it for yourself, the show runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The address is 401 Canyon Way, Unit 40 in Lockwood. It’s just east of Sparks on I-80.
