RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com)--A local business owner purchased the 85,000 square foot old Woolworth's building on First and Virginia Street, and plans to turn the first floor into a grocery store.
Jamy Keshmiri says the purchase was finalized on Monday. He wouldn't disclose how much he bought the property for, he says, out of respect for the old owners. He did say he bought it for significantly less than the previous owners.
"I love the building, it's built really well and has a lot of history," says Keshmiri.
Keshmiri says right now he's only focused on developing the first floor, but does plan to eventually use the whole building.
"I want to make it accessible so everyone can get to it," says Keshmiri.
Keshmiri plans on building a parking garage underground. He says he already has the ball rolling on brining in a grocery company. He hopes to have the grocery store open in at least a year.
