CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The world's greatest classic car auction rolls into Reno this summer to be a part of Hot August Nights and one local organization wants to make sure they really wow attendees.
Barrett-Jackson is estimated to bring millions of dollars to the local economy so it's an event a lot of folks would like to keep around.
The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority is in Palm Beach, Florida scouting out the competition the Barrett-Jackson Auction that started Thursday.
It is Barrett-Jackson's last stop before coming to Reno.
The RSCVA grabbed News 4 a sneak peak of the nuts and bolts of how things are operating at Barrett-Jackson in Palm Beach.
There is a Reno-Tahoe booth right at the entrance of the event. So Barrett-Jackson has been continuously reminding their attendees about going to Reno in August.
We're told Reno's hotel and casinos are working closely with the RSCVA and Hot August Nights in hosting Barrett-Jackson. They plan to really wow attendees in Reno with the food and drink selection and quality.
RSCVA president and CEO Chris Baum made the trip over to Palm Beach and says the type of venue facility is a dominating factor in the overall success of the event.
"Craig Jackson has said our facility in Reno-Tahoe is the best they'll operate in anywhere in the country and we have to agree with him," Baum says.
Barrett-Jackson Vice President of Sales and Marketing Phil Neri tells News 4 the anticipate a crowd of about 75,000 at the Reno-Tahoe Barrett-Jackson, making it larger than the auction's turnout in Las Vegas.
Barrett-Jackson, joins Hot August Nights and kicks off August 8 and goes until August 10.
