What would help the students in all grade levels tremendously is to offer tutoring after shool to those kids that need it. When asked about tutoring the schools give you a list of places to call that offer it. It is all very expensive and out of reach for most parents! I know of a middle school that said they offered tutoring after school in the library, but it was really only a quiet homework time with one teacher who may or may not answer a question for you. There are kids who need more than that! I am a very involved parent but I know my child benefits greatly from having some extra teacher time, even if it is in a group setting after school.
