Local snowboarders compete at Olympics
ROSA KHUTOR, Russia (Mynews4.com & KRNV) -- The 2014 Sochi Olympics have begun, and even on the first day, local athletes are making an impact. The Slopestyle event kicked off on Thursday for the first time as an Olympic event.
The qualification round consisted of two heats, and the top four advanced directly to the finals. Jamie Anderson, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., finished second in her heat and will compete for the gold in the finals on Sunday.
In the men's competition, Chas Guldemond, of Reno, finished outside of the top four in his heat, but advanced to the semifinal round. Only the top four from the semifinal round will advance to the finals. Both the men's semifinal and final will be staged on Saturday.
