RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Students from Depoali Middle School and North Valleys High School took a science field trip to the University of Nevada Monday to learn about climate change.

Their teachers participated in a scientific research project called the RIETI project, which gave students the opportunity to look at mud samples dating back 2000 years from Italy. The data collected will go toward researching environmental changes in response to climate.

160 students participated in Monday's trip.
