Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A local veteran was handed the keys to a new car tonight, July 26, 2013 courtesy of NAPA Auto Care Centers in the Reno-Sparks area.

Luke Titus served as an Army Specialist for four and a half years and was deployed to Iraq for 15 months. Since returning home, he and his family have struggled with transportation.

"It means the world to me, you have no idea, we didn't have a car big enough to fit the family so this is gonna help me get the family to places all at once," said Titus.

Several Local NAPA Auto Care Centers worked together to give Luke and his family a 2000 Ford Expedition, an SUV, fit for the whole family. David Finley, the owner of NAPA Auto Care Centers says, "If everybody in the community would do something like this, ya know, it would be a lot better."

David Finley along with the rest of the Auto Care Center owners say they were glad to help. Shari Pheasant with "A Master Mechanic" says, "I think he resembles a lot of vets that just want to be helped they want to be supported and ya know, there's a lot of things they see over there that really affects their brain and their heart and we have to support their recovery."

While Luke was serving in Iraq he missed the birth of this son and many other precious memories with his growing family and he says his homecoming was rough, "When I came home for R&R I was treated very poorly. I flew 36 hours and when I landed in Texas I got spit on."

Luke says the generosity of the NAPA Auto Care Centers makes up for that bad treatment. Luke's wife, Ashley recently lost her grandmother and says she believes this car is a sign that her grandmother is watching over her family, "It's amazing to know that we have people around that can just do stuff like that for people in the community and we're so grateful to be the family that was able to get such an amazing gift."

Here is a list of the Auto Care Centers involved in the car giveaway:

my best friend's step-sister makes $60 every hour on the computer. She has been fired from work for 10 months but last month her paycheck was $13508 just working on the computer for a few hours. Here's the site to read more > ---- WEP6.COM

"Spit-on in Texas...?" Okaaayyy, whatever dude. You should have said something and by now the spitter's head would be on a post outside a Texas VFW and the rest of him/her would be strung up at the local Patriot Guard hang-out. I've been around long enough to remember when some troops did get spit on when they came home from an unpopular war; especially if you came home through SFO. But people love the troops these days. Since about the mid-80s' we have been darlings of the country. Warm fuzzies all around. Enjoy it while it lasts boys & girls; my fellow vets, we can turn into scumbags at the next hearbeat. Don't get me wrong. I thank the Specialist for his service and kudos to NAPA having a place in their hearts for veterans....Ii hasn't always been that way.
