RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- More than 20,000 people in our community struggle to put food on the table every month.

"It's 2014 and there are people who are hungry," said De De Rosene. "It doesn't make any sense to me."

So Rosene is doing something about it. Year-round, she runs an advertising agency, but each September she organizes a "Run on Tuna" from her home.

"It's so fun," Rosene said. "The doorbell rings and there's a complete stranger at the door with tuna. It's just awesome."

She donates the tuna to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. This weekend, she is having a garage sale to boost the tuna drive. "If you bring tuna, I'll give you a tuna dollar and you can go through the garage sale and buy stuff with it," Rosene said. "You can get something and give back all at the same time."

By the end of the month, she hopes to collect 10,000 cans.

If you would like to donate tuna, you can call Rosene at 775-225-0814, or email her at despacede@aol.com. The garage sale will take place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at 350 Sunnyside Drive in Reno.
