RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A Reno neighborhood association is taking a stand against a plan to expand a rock recycling operation because of the effect it may have on their home values.
Tonight, the University Ridge Neighborhood Association and several residents appealed the planning commission's green light for this 7.5 acre expansion.
Neighbors don't want this expansion due to the impact such it could have on air quality as well as noise and increased commercial traffic.
Councilman Dortch, who represents Ward 4 where this current operation exists, says he has met with both sides and didn't get the impression from the owner that there would be any on-site crushing of concrete or asphalt for recycling purposes.
