RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Those bigger portions of meat on your kid's school lunch tray are here to stay.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says it is making permanent changes in rules relaxing limits on school lunch portions. The USDA had restricted portions of meats and grains to help combat childhood obesity.
Now, the agency says a 2012 rule that temporarily allowed larger servings of lean protein and whole grains will be made permanent. The government had faced complaints that kids were going hungry under the restricted portions.
