DONNER SUMMIT, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) A man was arrested after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a chase on Interstate 80 eastbound around 4am today.

Officers were told there was a driver weaving all over the road and not allowing people to pass. An officer caught up with the driver, 39-year-old Chris Shepler, near SR-20 and said Shepler was throwing trash out of the window. The officer tried to pull over the Shepler and he accelerated.

Officers chased Shepler on a 16.4 mile pursuit. As the chase passed Soda Springs Road, officers say they deployed a spike strip and deflated Shepler's front two tires. Shepler continued to flee, but the chase soon ended east of the Donner Summit Rest Area.

The suspect has been taken into custody.
