WADSWORTH, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A man has been arrested for felony DUI after he caused his vehicle to roll over and seriously injure the passenger in his car.
Last night around 6:00 pm, Nevada Highway Patrol says the driver, Ian D. Hain of Reno, was on westbound Interstate 80 near Wadsworth driving recklessly, when he crashed near the Painted Rock interchange.
Hain allowed his vehicle to drift from the left travel lane and onto the inside paved shoulder where it hit a section of guardrail, according to NHP. The car crossed both westbound lanes before rolling over at least one time. No other vehicles were involved.
Hain and his passenger, 22-year-old Shane R. Fish of Reno, were extricated from the vehicle and transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance. NHP says both men displayed signs of gross intoxication at the scene. Hain was treated and medically released from the hospital and transported directly to the Washoe County Detention Facility where he was booked for felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm, reckless driving, and failing to maintain a travel lane. He is still in custody at the jail this morning.
NHP says Fish, however, sustained very serious injuries in the crash and remains as a patient at the hospital this morning in serious condition.
Trooper Mike Davidson is investigating this crash. Witnesses, or anyone with additional information, are encouraged to contact him at (775) 687-0400 regarding case number NHP-130900062.
