SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Modesto Police Department contacted Sparks PD at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday regarding the possible kidnapping of two female juveniles, according to a press release received by News 4 Wednesday morning.
Modesto PD said their investigation led them to believe the male suspect and two juveniles were at the Sparks Nugget. Sparks PD responded to the Nugget and located the suspect and the two girls. All three were transported to the Sparks Police Department for interviews.
During the interview, Sparks Police learned that the two girls had run away from their homes and one of them was acquainted with the suspect, Nicholas Wessel. He convinced the two girls to come with him to Nevada and drove them from the Modesto area to the Sparks Nugget where he rented a room. Once all three were in the room, Wessel had non-consensual sex with the 14-year-old female. Soon after that, they were all taken into custody.
Upon further investigation, Sparks Police Detectives located a camera that belonged to Wessel in which several illegal images of children were found. Some of the images were of the 14-year-old victim but the others are unknown at this time.
The two girls were uninjured and taken to the Jan Evans facility. Wessel was taken to the Washoe County Jail where he was booked on Kidnapping (2 Counts); Sexual Assault, Production of Child Pornography; Possession of Child Pornography.
There is no further information available at this time and the investigation is on going.
The Sparks Police Department asks that anyone with further information that might be helpful in this investigation to contact either the Sparks Police Detective Division or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
