SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A man has been arrested in South Lake Tahoe for an attempted bank robbery.
On Sunday, Jul. 28 around 2:45am, officers responded to a man claiming to be the man who had attempted to rob the El Dorado Savings Bank on Thursday, Jul. 25. The man said he was 64-year-old Robert Allen Larson of South Lake Tahoe.
Larson confessed to officers that he had drafted a demand/robbery note and then rode his bicycle from his home to the El Dorado Savings Bank. Larson said he entered the bank with the demand note and presented it to the clerk. Larson stated that after a short pause and interaction with the clerk, he took back his demand note and exited the bank. Larson rode his bicycle away from the bank and directly home to Herbert Avenue. Larson stated that he attempted to rob the bank due to his current financial shortcomings and related that he needed the money.
Larson granted officers his permission to collect evidence from his home, to include the clothing he wore during the crime the demand note. These items were located and collected by investigating officers. Larson was arrested for attempted robbery. He was booked into the custody of the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe.
