Man arrested on suspicion of robbing two banks in Sparks

SPARKS. Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Sparks Police have made an arrest in connection to two bank robberies that have occurred in the last month.

According to a press release, Sparks Police arrested Justin Ray Helleson under suspicion of robbing at the U.S. Bank inside Raley's in the 2300-block of Wingfield Hills Drive and the U.S. Bank inside Safeway in the 2800-block of Vista Boulevard. The first robbery happened on July 14, and the second occurred on August 1.

Reno Police And Sparks Police detectives developed information that Helleson had committed the robberies and placed him under surveillance. On Wednesday, they followed Helleson to the Wal-Mart on Second Street. After a short period of time, Helleson left the Wal-Mart on foot and began walking eastbound toward Glendale Avenue.

Helleson was contacted and placed under arrest. Helleson has been booked into the Washoe County Jail on two counts of Robbery with the Use of a Deadly Weapon.
