UPDATE: Tuesday, 10:44 a.m. -- One man is dead after getting hit by a car while crossing the street in north Reno on Monday.
The accident happened at the intersection of North Virginia Street and Moraine Way around 10 p.m. According to investigators, the 36-year-old victim was walking across North Virginia when he was hit. The driver is a 23-year-old Reno man.
Police believe neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
UPDATE: Tuesday 12 a.m. -- Parts of North Virginia Street are still shut down, due to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle Monday night.
According to Reno Police, the accident could be fatal. North Virginia Street from Talus Way to Moraine Way is still closed, and drivers will follow a detour around the closed section. Officials believe neither speed nor alcohol is a factor in the crash, and that the pedestrian was walking on a crosswalk.
