LAKE TAHOE, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The man who was hit by a car on US Highway 50 near Stateline this past weekend has been identified as 31-year-old Cody J. Dobson of Carson City.

Nevada Highway Patrol arrived on scene of the incident around 3:15 Saturday morning just east of the casino corridor near Lake Parkway in Douglas County. Dobson may have been walking on the highway or stumbled from the adjacent sidewalk just east of the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa prior to being hit, NHP says.  One witness who stopped to help Dobson told troopers he was driving west when he observed a person lying in one of the eastbound travel lanes. When he turned his vehicle around to provide assistance, he saw a full size blue Dodge pickup hit the downed pedestrian. NHP says the pickup may have a camper shell matching the color of the vehicle as well.

The pedestrian was initially transported from the scene by ground ambulance and taken to Barton Memorial Hospital before being flown to Renown Regional Medical Center by Cal Star. Alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor in this event as Dobson displayed signs of intoxication both at the scene and the hospital. He is still listed in critical condition at Renown this morning.

The Nevada Highway Patrol would like anyone who witnessed this crash or who may have more information about this incident to please contact our agency.
