SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The man who fled the scene after hitting and killing a pedestrian at Oddie Boulevard and Mall Drive has turned himself in to Sparks Police.
The incident happened around 5:30 last night. Sparks Police say that the pedestrian was crossing Oddie from the south side to the north side in a diagonal against the green light. The pedestrian had made it across the eastbound lanes and had just started to cross the westbound lanes when he was hit by a white 2003 Ford SUV. The vehicle did not stop at the scene and was seen turning north on Sutro by a witness.
The pedestrian, whose identity will not be released until family can be notified, was transported to Renown where he died from his injuries, Sparks Police say.
The driver of the Ford SUV later identified himself and has been interviewed by Sparks Police. No charges have been filed at this time.
The Sparks Police Department is asking that anyone who saw the accident, please contact the traffic division at 353-2432.
