CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - Larry J. Peck, 62, the man who killed Reno Police Officer John C. Bohach in 2001 has died in prison. The Nevada Department of Corrections say Peck was discovered unresponsive in his cell Friday. He was taken to Carson-Tahoe Medical Center and pronounced dead. A Nevada Department of Corrections statement said foul play is not suspected in Peck's death, but did not list a suspected cause of death.
Officer John C. Bohach was shot with a rifle on August 22, 2001 while assisting fellow officers with an armed and barricaded Peck. Bohach joined the Reno Police Department on July 25, 1988. An officer had stopped Peck's vehicle for a traffic violation. The Peck suddenly sped away and was pursued until Peck ran into his home. As Officer Bohach assisted in securing the area, the Peck shot him in the chest. Officer Bohach was not wearing a protective vest at the time. Peck was arrested after a SWAT team stormed the house.
