RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The NCAA tournament is underway and bets on the games mean big money for Nevada sports books, and on the first day of the tournament March Madness is quickly spreading.
"Loser goes home, winners advance," said Terry Cox, Peppermill Race and Sports Book Director. "It doesn't get more exciting than that."
Cox said business is booming for March Madness.
"If you take these four days, it's bigger than the Super Bowl," he said.
Cox said bets will top $100 million statewide for just the first week of the tournament, and the fans are lining up to get in on the game.
"It's part tradition, it's part just being involved and it's part just see how good you are," Cox said.
You can almost feel the excitement in the sports book and it's just beginning of the tournament.
"[Fans] kick back and watch the games and wave their tickets and scream at the TVs," Cox said. "I don't know why it's fun, but it is."
News 4 also checked in with Circus Circus. Their sports book business is up about 75 percent so far this week.
