"And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." -Shakespeare. Reno resident, Doris Howard, my mom, is a WWII Army Nurse Corps Veteran whose ship, The U.S.S. Comfort, was hit by a kamikaze off the battle of Okinawa, known to this day as the biggest attack on women in uniform in US history. When the abandon ship was announced she turned to the soldier on the oxygen tank who would not be able to leave and said, "Don't worry, I'll stay with you." Wish she could be part of Honor Flight, too. Would mean the world to her.
