RENO, Nev. (AP) — The University of Nevada, Reno has a new director of the School of Social Work.

UNR on Tuesday announced the hiring of Goutham Menon to lead the school. Menon comes to Nevada from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Menon says one of his goals is to expand programs and access to students across the state.

The undergraduate social work degree currently offers an online program that entails students doing three years at a Nevada community college, followed by a one-year distance online course at the university.

Menon says he'd like to extend that model to the master's degree program as well.

Menon's wife, Maureen Rubin, is also joining the school's faculty.
