MINERAL COUNTY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- An elementary school was on a Code Red lockdown on Tuesday, after over 100 marijuana plants were found 500 feet from the school.

According to Mineral County Sheriff Stewart Handte, Schurz Elementary School was on lockdown while deputies cleared the scene at the Road Runner Motel. Schurz Elementary School is about 33 miles north of Hawthorne.

Deputies said they had to put down an aggressive dog to access the pot plants after they conducted a no-knock search warrant. Sheriff Handte said they are still looking for the motel owners, who were not at the scene.
