RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Reno Police say a motorcyclist is in critical condition after racing another motorcyclist on Virginia Street.

Police say two motorcycles were racing each other heading southbound on Virginia at a high rate of speed. They were reportedly weaving in and out of traffic. A SUV was making a left hand turn, coming from the northbound lanes and going into the Whole Foods parking lot, when one of the motorcycles hit the SUV. The other motorcycle drove away from the scene.

The driver of the motorcycle has critical injuries and was transported to Renown. The driver of the SUV has no injuries

South Virginia between South McCarran and Neil Road is closed (southbound and northbound) while police are on scene investigating.

Police expect it to be cleared up and open in about 35 minutes.
