UPDATE - 5:57PM - North Virginia Street is back open.
UPDATE - 4:27PM - According to Reno Police, the incident happened around 2pm when the 31-year-old Yamaha Scooter rider veered across the southbound travel lanes of N. Virginia Street just south of the intersection of Panther Drive. While the rider was veering across the travel lanes, he was hit by a southbound 2004 Pontiac Vibe.
The crash ejected the rider off of the scooter and he is now in critical condition at a local hospital. The driver of the Pontiac sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
Speed, alcohol, or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this accident.
The Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the accident and will be on the scene for sometime. North Virginia between Hoge Road and Panther Drive will be closed for both northbound and southbound traffic for the next few hours.

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Highway 395 at N. Virginia and Panther Valley is shut down in both directions due to a crash involving a vehicle and a motorized scooter, according to Reno Police. The rider of the scooter is said to have suffered serious injuries.
