Fernley, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com)--At around 2:40 a.m. on December 1st, NHP were called to a crash involving two vehicles on eastbound I-80 just outside of Fernley.
According to a release from Highway Patrol, the accident occured when a 2005 Freightliner tracter towing a semi-trailer hit a median and overturned. It fell on its right side, with the tractor and trailer blocking both eastbound lanes. The driver, Lawrence Burnett Jr, of Sacramento, was not injured in the crash.
Shortly after the initial crash a 2011 Volvo tractor, also towing a trailer crashed into the already downed Freightliner. The driver of the second vehicle, Allen Weaver, sustained serious injures and was taken to Renown Hospital in Reno.
The accident is still under investigation, anyone who witnessed either crash is asked to call Trooper Chris Kelly at 775-689-4661.
