CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — An English and technology teacher at Carson High School has been named Nevada's teacher of the year.
Carson High students gathered at an assembly on Wednesday to hear the announcement and pay tribute to Adam Whatley.
Whatley graduated from the school in 1996.
Carson City School District superintendent Richard Stokes says Whatley is interesting, full of energy and popular with students. He says he's also community minded outside the classroom.
Whatley says he wished done more to tell his own teachers how much of an impact they had on his life. He encouraged the students not to make the same mistake.
