RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A Nevada lawmaker has reintroduced a bill making it a crime to benefit from lying about receiving a military valor medal.
Today, Representative Joe Heck introduced the proposed legislation. It's similar to a law passed in the house last year. The Supreme Court struck down the previous law on grounds that it infringed on free speech rights.
Heck's bill doesn't make it a crime to lie about receiving a military award, but receiving a benefit from the lie would be a crime. If passed, violators would face a fine and up to one year in prison.
