NY aiming to ban cigarette sales to those under 21

NEW YORK, NY (KRNV, MyNews4.com & CNBC) -- New York City is now trying to take a stand against selling cigarettes to those under 21, according to CNBC.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who is running to replace Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is due to announce legislation to increase the minimum age for buying cigarettes to 21 from 18.

CNBC is reporting that on nearby Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk counties have raised their legal age for buying cigarettes and other tobacco products to 19.
