RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Across the country, ice cream and soda fans got a free treat. Wednesday was National Root Beer Float Day at A&W restaurants all over the U.S., and in Reno, the A&W on Kietzke and Plumb joined in.

From 2 p.m. until close, the franchise handed out free floats to anyone who wanted one. Donations were collected to support the Wounded Warriors Project and to help the homecoming of our nation's service members.

"We are all contributing to our Wounded Warriors, because we think it's such a valuable something to sponsor and something to promote, because we so appreciate our soldiers out there," said Owner Raeleen Baker.

The Kietzke and Plumb location gave away more than 600 free floats, and collected about $1,200 for the charity.
