CARSON CITY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- District Judge James Wilson has issued a ruling in a lawsuit to determine how transparent the Division of Insurance should be regarding Navigators for the Silver State Exchange.

The Carson City District judge was clear in his decision. "The law has been very clear about this. Lawmakers want an open and transparent government." The Division of Insurance will hand over applications to the two publications.

The DOI has until the end of February, but they may seek a stay while they consider an appeal. The judge also ordered the DOI to pay for all lawyer's fees and court costs associated with this court case.

The lawsuit was brought by the National Review and the Las Vegas Review-Journal after the Division of Insurance refused to give details on the criminal records of Silver State Exchange Navigators. Navigators assist people in signing up for health insurance, and have access to personal and private information.

Recent reports from California have said that as many as 43 Navigators have a criminal background.

a person can apply for and may be hired for a government job, providing they furnish criminal history (within certain limitations). Why does this have to be a Public Record issue? I guess nobody trusts their state govt. (I mean, like, the DMV) and are slow to effect real change, unlike some of the neighboring states. Is it because of the sleazy nature of Vegas, or reactionary bloggers and/or snoops? Who deserves to know this? NV seems 2B a police State. conflict of interest: buddy up with a sniping "millionaire pawnbroker"
