Navy aircraft crashes east of Fallon

UPDATE-- According to Naval officials, last night's fighter jet crash in western Nevada was a total loss. The F/A-18C jet was located in rugged terrain on the Navy range training complex about 70 miles east of Naval Air Station Fallon.

The pilots conditions remains unknown and the name will not be released until after 24 hours.

Fallon, NV (KRNV & – A U.S. Navy aircraft crashed around 3p.m. today, Mar. 1, 2014 on a U.S. Navy range training
complex, about 70 miles east of NAS Fallon. 

According to Lt. Reagan B. Lauritzen a U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet assigned to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center at Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, Nevada crashed while conducting a training flight. 

Officials say Navy personnel are on the way to the scene, the Navy has not officially confirmed the status of the aircraft crewmember. A safety investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the crash.
