RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The baby boomers are retiring and the number of older adults in our community is rapidly increasing as is the need for services.
According to Senior Services Director Grady Tarbutton, they serve about 6,000 seniors a year. Tarbutton says there are about 76,000 seniors in Washoe County. By 2020, they expect the population to grow to 100,000, making resources thin. Because social security only pays about $14,000 a year, many seniors are low income.
