RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) - News 4 is digging deeper into a story on a convicted sex offender who was posing as a preacher in Reno.

68-year-old James Edward Bryant was known as "the preacher man" at the downtown Reno hotel where he rented a room for about two months. Neighbors describe him as a "sweet and friendly man of god," but are shocked by his arrest. Now, they take note of his behavior with young wayward boys he claimed to be helping.

Reno Motel Property Manager Darla Ward said she never saw him with anyone older than 20. "He had a bunch of young boys in his room. But the hindsight in that is that I hang out with young children, I help children, I help people out and all kinds of stuff, so I thought he was someone else that was caring and loving and wanted to help other people."

Bryant was arrested yesterday for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender in Nevada and had a warrant for Sex Offenses Against a Minor Under the Age of 14.

Anyone with information or allegations of crimes committed by Bryant are urged to call local police.
