LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Nevada state Assembly member says he showed his Legislature badge, but police attacked him after his wife called 911 from a neighbor's house during the weekend.
Steven Brooks tells The Associated Press he thinks police were trying to kill him.
Brooks is free from jail on $4,000 bail following his arrest early Sunday on misdemeanor domestic battery and obstructing an officer charges.
Police say Brooks tried to take a gun from an officer during a scuffle outside his wife's home.
Attempts to reach Brooks wife, Ada Brooks, on Monday weren't immediately successful.
It was Brooks' second arrest since Jan. 19, when he was jailed overnight on a felony allegation that he threatened Assembly Democratic Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick.
Last week, he said he was taking a leave from the Legislature.
