RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) --If you're hearing loud noises coming from the airport this weekend don't worry, the Nevada Air National Guard is conducting routine training.
On Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10, those in the vicinity of the Nevada Air National Guard base, south of the Reno-Tahoe Airport, can expect to hear explosive sounds and see Nevada Air Guardsmen wearing chemical protective gear and carrying unloaded weapons.
This activity is part of the routine training required in preparation for the unit's Operational Readiness Inspection scheduled for early summer, according to the Nevada Air National Guard. A bird cannon will provide the explosive sounds.
Although loud, the bird cannon will not fire projectiles. There is no danger to persons or property in the vicinity.
