CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Hispanic female officer is suing fellow officers on Nevada's Capitol Police force claiming sexual harassment and age discrimination.
In a civil lawsuit filed Wednesday, Alice Valdez names five male officers and the Department of Public Safety as defendants.
Valdez alleges she was subjected to sexual harassment and treated differently than her male counterparts and that when she complained to her supervisors nothing was done.
The Las Vegas Sun (http://bit.ly/14lbfbG ) reports Gov. Brian Sandoval confirmed last week that he asked for an investigation of the police but declined to say why.
About a half-dozen officers have been placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation is underway.
The suit was filed in Carson City District Court.
