RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Nevada Moves Day is getting thousands of kids out and enjoying the fresh air.

Students at Lincoln Park Elementary School did something a little different on Wednesday: they walked to school. But Lincoln park was not the only school participating. Walking and bicycling events were planned throughout the area.

The Fifth Annual Nevada Moves Day is also an opportunity to help children learn more about pedestrian and bicycling safety. "Exercise and fitness promotes energy to the brain, to the body," said Nevada Moves Day Volunteer Lalita Cole. "I think all the kids should be engaged in fitness."

And just a reminder to motorists, many of these kids will also be walking home from school, so be extra careful throughout school zones and neighborhoods.
