PYRAMID LAKE, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Saturday marks the 100th anniversary of Anaho Island Refuge at Pyramid Lake. News 4 was given special access to the island and brings you a preview of tomorrow's event.
Anaho Island's 100th anniversary will not only draw your attention to Pyramid Lake's crystal blue waters, but also the skies.
About 10,000 protected American White Pelicans call the island home.
The dry, even harsh-looking desert landscape is a delicate breeding ground for the birds and their young.
Dozens will take to hot spots around the lake on Saturday to celebrate the success of the national wildlife refuge.
In addition to the bird watching, there will be activity booths at the Pyramid Lake Marina, presentations at the Tribal Museum in Nixon and tours at the Marble Bluff Fish Facility.
Saturday's anniversary event runs from 11am to 3pm at Pyramid Lake.
