Nevada State Superintendent Resigns

CARSON CITY, NV – Dr. James Guthrie today tendered his resignation as Superintendent of Public Instruction, effective immediately.

“Dr. Guthrie moved to Nevada and helped the state reform how we approach education,” Governor Brian Sandoval said. “While we continue this work, I thank him for his service to our great state and I wish him the best.”

Rorie Fitzpatrick, currently Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, has been appointed Interim Superintendent. Additional details regarding the process for appointment of the next Superintendent will be forthcoming.

The Wildlife guy was forced to resign, because he had "expertise" on sage grouse. More Sandoval "purges", he's headed for the Prez campaign. Needs a lotta bucks to replace a lifetime judgeship appt.

Some good news for Nevada's educators. That doesn't mean the replacement will be any better.
