CARSON CITY, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Nevada State Treasurer Kate Marshall officially filed candidacy papers to run for Secretary of State, the position currently held by Ross Miller. Marshall has served as State Treasurer since 2006, having twice won statewide elections.

During her term as State Treasurer, she has initiated several programs such as the Nevada College Kick Start Program -- a college savings program for Nevada's kindergarteners -- and the State of Nevada’s first private equity investment fund.

Prior to being elected Treasurer, Marshall served in the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division and as the Senior Deputy Attorney General for Nevada.
