LAS VEGAS (AP) — After a long night counting ballots, Las Vegas Congresswoman Berkley conceded in her challenge of Republican Sen. Dean Heller early Wednesday.
In a statement issued after 1:30 a.m., Heller called it "a hard fought campaign."
Berkley recalled for supporters in a Las Vegas Strip casino ballroom that her grandparents arrived as immigrants in the U.S. with no money, no skills and unable to speak English. But they dreamed their children and their children's children would have a better life.
Nevadans also re-elected Republican U.S. Reps. Joe Heck and Mark Amodei, returned Democrat Dina Titus to Congress after a two-year hiatus, and sent the state's first black Senate majority leader, Steven Horsford, to Washington to fill a new House district that stretches across the middle of the state.
